Insurance customer stories often explain the value of protection planning better than a hard sales pitch.
I have a customer who owns a successful seasonal ice cream parlor with a side of Jamaican jerk chicken and a weekly music concert. He said to me: “ Jane, I haven’t worked a day in my life”.
I thought about what he said. What part of what I do is work? It is certainly not work for me to help my customers find a solution that provides them with security and peace of mind and is there for them on one of the worst days of their life. This is as fulfilling to me as serving up a double scoop on a waffle cone while listening to live music playing in the background.
I suddenly realized that the real work for me was getting people to listen to my (often unsolicited) advice. Calling new home owners, giving out my card to business owners, reminding friends and family who don’t need reminding. That was work. No one wants to do it and that was why I was able to keep working well past retirement age.
So I decided I wanted to stop working just like my pal. I stopped giving lectures, I stopped telling and started asking. Now my job is to get my clients to tell me what they need and I provide the solution. And I haven’t worked since‼️
What This Story Reminded Me
This story reminded me that the best insurance conversations do not always come from a formal sales pitch. Sometimes they come from real people, real families, and real business owners sharing what they have lived through.
That is why insurance customer stories matter. They help people understand protection planning in a more human way. Instead of talking only about policies, numbers, or paperwork, a story can show why planning ahead matters before life becomes difficult.
For me, this is the heart of Proof of Love. It is about helping people think ahead without pressure. It is about giving families and business owners simple reminders, practical advice, and a safe place to start asking better questions.
When customers share their own stories, they often do part of the work for me. They show others that insurance and planning are not just financial topics. They are deeply personal choices connected to love, responsibility, and peace of mind.
